Speeds

Upon our testing of the premium version, Atlas VPN speed remained consistent. We benchmarked the speed test with varied online usage, like surfing, gaming, streaming, and downloads. On average, we received a downloading speed of 40 Mbps and an uploading speed of 8 Mbps. We did notice a dip in the speed while switching from a local server to a distant location.  

Overall, we didn't experience any form of lag or delay. We also tested the freemium service, and much to our notice, there wasn't a bombardment of ads like we typically see in most free VPN products. The average speed had quite a drop from their premium service, but still, the user experience remained good.

Security

Like other VPNs, Atlas VPN uses industry-standard AES-256 and IPsec/IKEv2 for security measures. Hackers and online spoofs can't breach and collect your data with this type of security standard.

Atlas VPN is a 'No Log Data' VPN. It means they don't store your data and IP addresses. However, Atlas VPN collects basic analytical information to improve its services. Atlas VPN is part of the '5 Eyes Agreement' in conjunction with the data logging policy. And they don't have to hand over crucial user data to governments or law enforcement.

Privacy

AtlasVPN has privacy-packed protocols in its arsenal. It features a Kill-Switch, protecting you against data leaks in an instance of a connection drop. It also boosts its 'SafeBrowse' feature, which helps you protect from malicious threats and potentially harmful websites. But these features are only made available to Android and iOS devices. 

With AES-256, WireGuard, and IKEv2, Atlas VPN stays on par with industry-standard privacy protocols. In our view, Atlas VPN, like other providers, is equipped with solid security and privacy measures, delivering a safe user experience. 

Servers

Atlas VPN has 573 servers across 17 countries, slightly less than other products covered in our reviews. This takes away a few points from Atlas VPN, considering it also provides a premium service to its users. You aren't left with a broad choice while selecting servers. But at the same time, if your everyday usage includes merely using a VPN, it can be a good option.

Customer Support

If you're using their freemium service, you only have the option to reach out through email support. They also have a FAQ section to help you out with queries. Their premium subscription comes 24/7 personal support, which efficiently addresses your issues.

Pricing

Regarding pricing, it has two subscriptions, free and paid. The free subscription gets you unlimited bandwidth, basic security features and access to just three locations. While on the other hand, the premium subscription comes with all the features mentioned in this review.

The monthly price of Atlas VPN is $9.99, which to us is on the higher side. If you subscribe to a three-year plan, the price drops considerably to $2.49 and more to $1.39 with a three-year subscription.

Our Verdict

Atlas VPN provides flexible options with its free and paid subscription. If you aren't sure whether to buy their premium subscription, you can try their free services and then make a better purchasing decision. Atlas VPN comes with privacy and security-packed features, offering a fast connection for daily use.
